Donald Trump- LEWD. MISERABLE. SINNER.

There’s a lot floating around about these recently revealed statements made by Donald Trump in 2005. And as a committed husband of 18 years, and as a father of 2 fantastic daughters and a son of whom I desire to honor and respect women, and as a pastor of a fantastic country church, I find those words extremely disturbing and disheartening. Nor will I ever defend that kind of behavior.

But this is what I do know: The statements that he made almost 11 years ago were statements made from a deeply sinful heart that was not regenerated by the work of God through the atoning work of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

***In other words: HE ACTED LIKE A MISERABLE SINNER.

I also know that according to the June 2016 report from Dr. James Dobson, that Donald Trump has since gave his life to Christ. And not so very long ago. http://www.charismanews.com/…/58042-dr-james-dobson-donald-….)

***In other words: HE GAVE HIS LIFE TO CHRIST.

So if you would put those two statements together:
DONALD TRUMP ACTED LIKE A MISERABLE SINNER…
BEFORE HE CAME TO CHRIST.

SO. FREAKING. SHOCKING.

You know, if I read my Bible correctly, I also recall a man, who authored numerous books of the Bible whose past included persecuting Christians, as well as giving approval to the wholesale martyrdom and murder of Christians.
So the question I propose to you Christians out there is this: Do I hold in contempt or judgement the Apostle Paul, who BEFORE being regenerated by the Holy Spirit, for things that he did in his past?

NO WAY.

I also remember reading of a man who decided to steal his neighbor’s wife, get her pregnant and then wound up murdering that neighbor to cover his tracks. Then AFTER being confronted for his sin, he grievously repented.
Do I hold in contempt or judgement King David, who BEFORE being convicted by the Holy Spirit, for things that he did in his past?

NO WAY.

Would you hold ME in contempt if I told you that BEFORE I came to know Christ, I was a bald-faced liar, a cheater, hateful, bigoted, selfish, lustful, prideful, blasphemous, thieving sinner? Would I be disqualified from the ministry, or would you call into question my calling, my marriage, from being the leader of my family?

DUDE…

BEFORE I CAME TO CHRIST.

So do I hold in contempt or judgment, Donald Trump, who before being recently regenerated, and convicted by the Holy Spirit, for things that he did in his past?

IF God does not. Then, I DO NOT.

For God reminds me of my past so as to not to shame me. But to show me how much victory that I now have through Christ.

I also recall that after telling the Corinthian Church that BEFORE they came to know Christ, that amongst their numbers were fornicators, idolaters, and adulterers. Then Scripture goes on to say: “Such WERE some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.”

WERE.

That’s what was in their past.

LEWD. MISERABLE. SINNERS.
BEFORE THEY CAME TO CHRIST.

But then Jesus came along.
And OLD things are passed away.
Behold ALL THINGS have become NEW.

So, no, I am not surprised that Donald Trump acted like a LEWD. MISERABLE. SINNER.

Goodness sake, I was like that before I came to Christ.

So, NO, I am not going to stop reading the Epistles just because I found out some REALLY BAD THINGS from Paul’s past BEFORE he came to know Christ.

NO, I won’t stop reading the Psalms just because I found out some REALLY BAD THINGS from David’s past BEFORE he was convicted by God.

NO, I won’t stop singing Amazing Grace because just because I found out some REALLY BAD THINGS, like that the writer of the hymn was a former slave trader BEFORE he came to Christ.

And NO, I am not going to be swayed from voting in November because I found out some REALLY BAD THINGS about Mr. Trump BEFORE he came to Christ.

SO THEREFORE, YES,
I will vote my values and check the ballot for the one that reflects those values the best this November.

Go ahead and cast your stones at me.
Unfriend me.
Tell me that I am sell out.
I really do not care.

But before any Christian casts judgment on Mr. Trump for lewdness and impropriety PRIOR to his recent acceptance of Christ, do examine what YOUR life was BEFORE you came to know HIM.
